Chiropractic
One of the central concepts of Chiropractic care is that your body is self-healing and self-regulating. This natural ability is guided by your nervous system—your body’s master control system. Rather than adding things to the body to create health, chiropractic focuses on removing interference so your body can heal and function as it’s designed to.
Your brain constantly receives and sends messages through your nervous system, which includes your spine, spinal cord, and network of nerves reaching every cell and organ in your body. From balance and coordination to digestion, immune function, hormone regulation, energy levels and more—your brain relies on accurate information from your body to keep everything working in harmony.
Imagine your brain holds a detailed map of your body. It uses ongoing sensory input to make the best possible decisions about your health and function. This input travels to the brain through your nerves and falls into two major categories:
Proprioception – the information your brain receives from muscles and joints about your body’s position and movement. It’s essential for coordination, balance, and spatial awareness.
Interoception – the internal signals your brain receives from your organs, blood vessels, and even your emotional state. This allows the brain to monitor and regulate things like digestion, temperature, blood flow, detoxification, and energy levels.
For your brain and body to work in sync, these messages must flow clearly and accurately. But sometimes, this communication gets disrupted—often due to tension, misalignment, or restriction in the spine. When spinal movement becomes restricted or imbalanced, it can interfere with nerve signals and alter the messages being sent to and from the brain. In chiropractic, we refer to this as a vertebral subluxation.
What Do PFC Chiropractors Do?
Chiropractors are trained to assess the spine, nervous system, and pelvis for signs of restriction, tension, or imbalance. At PFC, we focus on identifying areas where these interferences may be affecting your health—sometimes long before you experience symptoms.
Our Chiropractors use specific, gentle chiropractic adjustments to correct these imbalances, restore movement, and help re-establish clear communication between your brain and body. You may experience a traditional manual adjustment (often with the familiar “popping” sound), or a more subtle low-force technique such as:
Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)
Activator Method (a gentle handheld instrument)
These approaches are safe and effective for people of all ages—from babies to the elderly—and we tailor your care based on what is best for your body and your comfort.
At Peninsula Family Chiropractic, we’re here to help you reconnect to your body’s own intelligence—so you can move, feel, and live at your best.
The PFC Difference
At PFC, we are passionate about caring for entire families across generations. Alongside our chiropractic care, we support our families and wider community through Four Pillars of Health—a holistic approach that helps guide every stage of life toward greater health and wellbeing.
Move Well
Our bodies are designed to move. Adequate exercise each day is an important aspect of both our physical and mental wellbeing.
Connect Well
Mind-body connection
To express your health potential you need a balance between the mind, the body and connection between them (the nervous system).
Social connection
Strong relationships have been shown to be one of the most important factors in living a long and happy life. Strong relationships improve both the quality and quantity of your life.
Eat Well
To perform at our best, we need to provide our body and mind with the right fuel and avoid toxins that are detrimental to our health.
Think Well
How we think about the world and ourselves will influence all other parts of our health. The fastest (but often the hardest) way to improve your health might be to change what is happening between your ears.
